My First Amigurumi Pattern - A Cute Little duck





Skill Level: Beginner
You can use the yarn of your choice and at the same time use a crochet hook that will suit your yarn. I have used 4 mm hook(Use a hook which would not show any gaps when we crochet).Now lets get started with my pattern. I hope you will like it. This is a free crochet pattern.

Materials required:
Yarn colors:  Yellow, and small amounts of orange , black and  pink.
Stuffing
Scissors
Tapestry needle (needle with blunt end)
Crochet hook that will suit the yarn that you will be using. In my case I have used 4mm hook.
Safety eyes

Abbreviations:
sc - Single crochet
inc - 2 sc in one stitch
dec - sc2tog
FL - Front loop
BL - Back loop
st - stitch
dc - double crochet
trc - tipple crochet
sl st - Slip Stitch

Head:
Crochet in Rows, in light pink.
Row 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
Row 2:  inc in every stitch (12)
Row 3: 1 sc,  inc  (18)
Row 4: 2 sc,  inc (24)
Row 5:  3 sc,  inc (30)
Row 6: 4 sc,  inc (36)
Row 7: 5 sc,  inc (42)
Row 8: 6 sc,  inc (48)
Row 9 - 18:  48 sc
Row 19: 6 sc, dec(42)
Row 20: 5 sc, dec(36)
Row 21: 4 sc, dec(30)
Row 22: 3 sc, dec(24)
Stuff the head also place the eyes in between the 11th and 12th row with about 5-6 stitches between them.
Body:
Continue to crochet the body in Rows
Row 23: 3 sc,  inc (30)
Row 24: 4 sc,  inc (36)
Row 25: 5 sc,  inc (42)
Row 26: 6 sc,  inc (48)
Row 27-36: 48 sc
Row 37: 6 sc, dec(42)
Row 38: 5 sc, dec(36)
Row 39: 4 sc, dec(30)
Row 6: 3 sc, dec(24)
Fasten off, leave a long yarn tail.
Stuff the body.


Wings:
Make two, crochet in Rows with yellow color yarn.
Row 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: 1 inc, 1 sc) (18)
Row  4- 13: 18 sc
Row 14: dec, 1sc(12)
Row 19: 6 dec (6)
Fasten off and leave long yarn tail. Stuff the wings lightly and shape as shown in below pic
Wing
Nose (In orange):
Crochet in rows,
Row 1: crochet 6 sc in the magic circle.(6)
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: 1 inc, 1 sc) (18)
Row 4 - 6: 18 sc
Row 7: dec, 1sc(12)
Row 8: 12 sc
Take black yarn and sew as shown in the pic. Sew the nose below the eyes. Stuff the beak tightly and shape as shown in below pic
Nose
Leg:
Make two, crochet in Rows.
Start with orange yarn
Row 1: crochet 6 sc in the magic circle.(6)
Row 2: 6 inc (12)
Row 3: 1 inc, 1 sc) (18)
Row 4: 2 sc,  inc (24)
now change the yarn with yellow color 
Row 5 : 24 sc in BL of previous row(24)
Row 6 - 9: sc 24
Row 10: dec, 2sc (18)
Row 11: dec, 1sc(12)
Row 12: 6 dec (6)
Stuff the bottom of the feet tightly, leave the top of the leg free of stuffing.
Leg
Hat(in Black):
Row 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6)
Row 2:  inc in every stitch (12)
Row 3: 1 sc,  inc  (18)
Row 4: 2 sc,  inc (24)
Row 5: Sc in BL(24)
Row 6 - 9: sc 24
Row 10 : 2 dc in each st (48)
Fasten off and leave long yarn tail. 
Flower(In pink):
 Start with a magic circle
chain 3 then 3 trc in magic circle and again chain 3 and slip stitch
repeat 4 more times.
The flower will be ready. you can decorate it with a bead or thread.
Sew the flower to the hat and then sew on the head of the duck.

Assembly: 

  1. Sew the nose onto the muzzle and center it between the eyes. Stuff the nose tightly.  Using your black embroidery thread and needle, sew a  small little mouth. Add eyebrows if you feel like adding.
  2. Sew the legs to the body so that your duck can sit by itself. You can position the hat however you wish. (Center or left or right of the head).
